Our next meeting will discuss Husserl's Crisis book up to the end of § 61 (that is, up to p. 215 in the Carr translation). 

The meetings of the reading group take place fortnightly, on Wednesdays, via zoom.

 Last Wednesday we had fun with Husserl finally spelling out some of the topics he was leading up to. 

We decided to confirm our meeting on 20 December, reading up to the end of §55 (Carr, p. 189), which is also the end of part III A of the book. 

That is, we will reach the end of "The Way into Phenomenological Transcdentental Philosophy by Inquiring back from the Pregiven Life World", leading to III B, namely, "The Way into Phenonmenological Transcendental Philosophy from Psychology".

 There was much new material to digest at our last meeting. We decided to reduce the amount of reading for our next session slightly. 

We will meet again on 6 December to discuss the pages up to p. 172 in Carr's translation (end of section 50).

Academic Year 2023–24: Husserl, The Crisis of European Science and Transcendental Phenomenology

We have decided to read this late important work by Husserl in the coming acacemic year. Details below. 

We will meet as usual fortnightly on Wednesdays at 5pm UK time by zoom. We will begin our meetings in late September or early October. For the zoom link, please contact alex.samely@manchester.ac.uk

We will read the work in English, although some of us will read it in the original as well.

 Final meeting on Kant's Critique of the Power of Judgment

Our final meeting of the academic year will take place on Wed 31 May at 5pm. 

We will discuss the second half of the "First Introduction" (Guyer and Matthews, pp. 28–51), and review suggestions from the group on what to read next academic year.

Kant's Critique of the Power of Judgment

Date of next meeting: Wed 26 April at 5pm (zoom).  

We will discuss the remaining sections of the book up to the end, p. 346 in Guyer. 

This will leave time for us to read in May/June meetings the "First" version of the Introduction, first drafted by Kant, but left unpublished during his life time (Guyer pp. 1-51 ). 

We are also discussing what to read during the next academic year. Suggestions welcome (send to alex.samely@manchester.ac.uk)
